Services Australia staff are on the ground in droves in and around Lismore and want to make it as painless as possible for flood victims to claim payments, and provide additional support.
They also have specialist staff available to provide extra support, including social workers (who can provide counselling and referrals to further services), Indigenous Service Officers and Multicultural Service Officers (for people who may need interpreters).
Services Australia have temporary service centres operating at Goonellabah Community Centre, 27 Oliver Ave, from 8.30am to 4.40pm and the Lismore Recovery Centre at SCU, 8.30am to 4.40pm.
In addition they have mobile service teams at Koori Mai in Molesworth Street, 9am to 4pm and at the Harold Frederick carpark on the corner of Dawson and Magellan Streets, 9am to 4pm.
They also have a big truck moving around the region. Today (Wednesday, March 16) they are in Broadwater near the tennis courts in Little Pitt Street, Thursday they will in Wardell and Friday in West Ballina all from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
