The body of a woman located by police in flood waters on NSW's North Coast is believed to be that of South Coast aged care nurse Alina Brakel.
The body is yet to be formally identified.
Following information from a member of the public the body was located in floodwaters near the intersection of Alexandra Parade and Tweed Street, North Lismore shortly before 7pm Thursday.
The search for Ms Brakel began about 9.50pm on Tuesday after the 55-year-old Shoalhaven woman was reported missing at Monaltrie, approximately 5km south of Lismore.
Officers were informed the woman had left Tullera (approximately 10km north of Lismore) on the same day and failed to arrive at her intended destination.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death is underway and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
