Stage and television singer-actress Rachael Beck will host an entertaining Skills and Thrills Show for northern NSW high school students on Thursday, November 24.

Up to a 1,000 students from schools surrounding Lismore, Ballina and Alstonville will attend the show over two sessions at the Whitebrook Threatre at Southern Cross University.

Beck had a major role in the sitcom Hey Dad and appeared in all three seasons of the Seven Network's It Takes Two singing competition.

She's also had a number of musical theatre roles in productions like Cats and Les Miserables.

Beck said she wanted to share her experience and help high school students understand the possibilities and broad variety of career options available to them.

"It is not just about university; it's about identifying what you are passionate about and seeing how that might link to a successful and rewarding career," she said.

An initiative of SkillsOne TV, the Skills & Thrills Show is designed to highlight the opportunities through vocational education, highlighting where Australia has skills shortages and how students can find successful and rewarding career pathways.
