UPDATE Friday 7.50am: The search for an aged care nurse missing in the floods since Tuesday, has ended tragically, with the body of a woman, believed to be Alina Brakel, found at North Lismore.
About 9.50pm on Tuesday (March 29), officers from Richmond Police District commenced an investigation into the whereabout of a 55-year-old woman who was reported missing in flood waters at Monaltrie, approximately 5km south of Lismore.

Officers were informed that the woman had left Tullera (approximately 10km north of Lismore) on the same day and failed to arrive at her intended destination.
Following information from a member of the public the body a woman was located in flood waters near the intersection of Alexandra Parade and Tweed Street, North Lismore shortly before 7pm today (Thursday March 31).
The body is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be that of the missing woman.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death is underway and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
The 2017 white Holden Captiva, with NSW registration YHS 51F, that the woman was travelling in has not yet been located.
Police are urging that anyone who locates this vehicle to immediately contact Richmond Police District or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
UPDATE Thursday 8.15am:
Aged care nurse Alina Brakel remains missing, believed to have been trapped in her car on Wyrallah road at Monaltrie on Tuesday as floodwater rose.
Police and emergency services are appealing for information as they continue to search for Ms Brakel.

Alina Brakel, aged 55, is described as being of Asian appearance, 150cm to 160cm tall, thin build, with black and red long hair.

As emergency service operations continue, police are urging anyone who may have seen a 2017 white Holden Captiva station wagon, with NSW registration YHS 51F, in the greater Lismore area to contact police immediately.
Police also remind people within flood affected areas to never enter, walk, ride or drive through floodwaters.
