United win three straight games in NRRRL

NORTHERN United won its third straight game of the season in Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League on the weekend.

United ran in seven tries in a 42-24 win over the Mullumbimby Giants at Clifford Park, Goonellabah.

They have been in a rich vein of form recently, highlighted by their 18-10 win over the Evans Head Bombers the previous week.

The Bombers are fourth on the ladder and responded with a hard-fought 26-all draw against competition leaders Murwillumbah on the weekend.

United will need to go up another gear when they take on second-placed Cudgen at Ned Byrne Field, Kingscliff on Sunday.

Marist Brothers will look to gets its season back on track this weekend.

They host Lower Clarence at Oakes Oval on Sunday before an away game against Evans Head the following Saturday.

Meanwhile, Richmond Rovers will take plenty of confidence into the local derby against Lismore Thistles in Football Far North Coast men's premier league on Saturday.

Rovers are coming off a 3-0 win over Bangalow while Thistles are looking to bounce back after a 3-2 loss against Mullumbimby Brunswick.

Meanwhile, Goonellabah will aim for a third straight win when it takes on competition leaders Byron Bay this weekend.

South Lismore will look to get back in the winners circle when they host Mullumbimby Brunswick.

The Celtics are kept scoreless in a 2-0 loss against Alstonville.

Alstonville have been the big improvers this season while most Lismore clubs still have catch up games to play.

A plan is in place to play the majority of the remaining washed out senior league fixtures on the first weekend in September.
