Lismore business Fitness Kidz has been nominated for an incredible seven awards at the 2022 What's On 4 Kids National Awards.
Brad Hicks, the owner of the business that specialises in junior fitness, sports programs and children's entertainment, said it was "really exciting" to be a finalist in so many categories.
Brad said it was the only awards program for the rapidly growing industry, and Fitness Kidz was the only Lismore based business to be nominated.
He said it was nice to get recognition from the Northern Rivers community and customers, whose votes helped the business get nominated in the "People's Choice" categories.
"People backed us. Having that backing makes me feel really proud," Brad said.
The business is also nominated in the industry judged award sections, with the finalists to be announced soon.
The mobile business runs two services, one that provides classes for pre-schools and early childcare centres, and one that provides fun and inclusive events. They also tailor programs for schools if required.
"Our classes at long day care centres and preschools are suitable for 2.5 - 6-year-olds," Brad said.
"We run our active children's entertainment at birthday parties, celebrations and events. Active entertainment is suitable for children turning 3 to children turning 10.
"We make fitness fun for children and our sporty active entertainment makes every birthday party a success!," he said.
Like many local businesses, this year has presented many challenges for Brad's business.
He said his industry was one of the first ones impacted by shutdowns when the pandemic hit, and the flood had also caused disruption.
"We were working one day, the next day, we were out of business.," he said.
But sport and keeping kids active was important during the flood recovery, and Brad the community had shown his services were very much needed during that time.
"If we take home any wins we will be dedicating them to the people and businesses of Lismore, the Northern Rivers and Tweed Coast as a sign of strength after the recent floods," Mr Hicks said.
He said even during the most challenging times, "people will always do fun things for kids."
Winners will be announced at a Gala Awards Night at Twin Towns, Tweed Headson October 8.
