The proposal seeks to rezone land at 389 Keen St, East Lismore from rural to residential, to allow the development to proceed.

The land is flood free, and located to the south of Wanda Dr in East Lismore, with direct road frontage to Felicity Dr.

Formerly a macadamia plantation, the land is identified in the Lismore Growth Management Strategy 2015 - 2035 as potential residential.

With a slope in the range of 2 - 5 per cent it was deemed "ideal for future residential development".

The development, first proposed in 2016, has been downsized from 140 residential allotments to 30 due to land constraints.

Council resolved in February 2020 to support the public exhibition of the rezoning planning proposal.

The objective of the rezoning planning proposal is to enable the future subdivision of the land to potentially create 30 residential allotments.

This proposal is achieved as follows:

  • Change the land use zone of part 389 Keen Street, East Lismore from RU1 Primary Production to R1 General Residential, and
  • Apply a minimum lot size of 400m2 for Zone R1, and,
  • Apply a maximum building height of 8.5m for Zone R1.

The Minister of Planning has delegated the making of this LEP to Lismore City Council under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.

This means the council will complete the final stages of the rezoning.

The planning proposal to amend LEP 2012 is publicly exhibited until September 20, 2022.

Submissions must be received by the council by close of business on September 20.

Copies of the draft amendment are available on the council's web site www.lismore.nsw.gov.au at the "Your Say Lismore" link and the NSW Planning Portal.

Submissions relating to the draft rezoning planning proposal outlining grounds of support or objection can be lodged via the "Your Say Lismore" link or emailed to council@lismore.nsw.gov.au or mailed to the General Manager, Lismore City Council, PO Box 23A, Lismore.
