Six-year-old gelding Without Revenge turned up from Toowoomba just in time to win the feature race.
It is trained by Corey and Kylie Geran.
Jockey Kyle Wilson-Taylor never looked like being run down and finished four lengths clear.
The win means it qualifies for the $3 million Big Dance at Randwick in November.
"He's the best horse we've ever had and he continues to improve," Corey Geran told Sky Racing.
"We had a few hiccups getting here today with the traffic and that's our first win with the horse.
"He raced out of his skin in the Little Dance last year and we had only had him for a month before that
"He's upwards of $130,000 in profit, now.
"Toowoomba is a great place to train horses and he's thriving there.
"I need to thank the owners and my team at home, mum and dad and my co-trainer, it's a big (group) effort."
Murwillumbah-trained Eaglemont finished second and also qualified while Ballina trainer Stephen Lee had Beckford finish third.
There were still plenty of entries in the best dressed women's division for Fashions on the Field.
Amy Want made the trip from Lawrence and won best dressed female.
She is no stranger to horse racing with her cousin Tegan Harrison have ridden plenty of winners across the region.
"I had the dress completely remade into something I really love," Amy said.
"I bought the dress online and my husband's mother-in-law on the Sunshine Coast did all the alterations for me.
"I find it's bad luck to do an outfit change last minute, so I was always going to wear this after missing out last week."
The next Ballina meeting will be held on February 12 while a big money event is coming to Lismore on February 17.
It has its Big Dance qualifier as part of the cup meeting in September.
