The SES is warning people not to drive in floodwater after a car was submerged at Boat Harbour today.
A social media post from the public earlier showed a man on the roof of his car at Broadwater.
The Lismore Unit of the SES said that this morning, its specialist In Water Flood Rescue Operators walked Boatharbour Road, Boat Harbour to undertake a welfare check and tag on a vehicle submerged.
"While it was understood the driver was not in or with the vehicle, our operators still required checking and taping off the vehicle to note to any passersby and other emergency services that there were no persons trapped," the SES said.
"This is a perfect reminder that it is never a good idea to drive, ride or walk through flood water- no matter how many times you travel the road.
"You do not know what is under the water, or if the road is even there."
In the post, the SES posted a picture from 2017 where part of the same road was washed away.
While the water was up, you could not see the area washed away until the water began dropping.
It highlights the dangers of driving through floodwater, even when the current isn't fast, or doesn't seem deep.
