They've come from all over the world, but 23 people in Lismore shared a common purpose this week, they all became Australian citizens.

Lismore City Mayor Steve Krieg welcomed the new citizens at an Australian Citizenship Ceremony held at the Council Chambers on Monday.
The new citizens have come from the United Kingdom, New Zealand, India, Finland, Northern Ireland, Kenya, Brazil, Turkey, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Sierra Leone and Egypt.
Mayor Krieg said it was an honour to take part in welcoming new citizens to our nation.
"One of the best parts of my job is to warmly welcome new Australian citizens who are now part of the common bond that unites all Australians and respects diversity," he said.
"Congratulations and welcome to our new citizens. Australia is one of the most culturally diverse nations in the world, and since 1949, we have welcomed more than five million new citizens to our shores."
The Lismore City Council, representing the Department of Home Affairs, organises regular citizenship ceremonies to warmly welcome new Australian citizens into our community.For more information about Australian citizenship, visit www.citizenship.gov.au.
